A singularly attractive bastide!
This 13th-century royal bastide is one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France.
With its dominant position overlooking the Dordogne Valley, it makes no bones about being interesting! With a hint of Templar mystery here and a pretty underground charm there, this beautiful village intrigues, surprises and bewitches... And you won't be able to escape its formidable charm!
Once you've parked your car outside the village, you'll catch a glimpse of the famous Porte des Tours. Steep streets lined with welcoming blonde stone houses follow the massive ramparts. At last, the Belvédère de la Barre is just around the corner! People flock there to admire one of the finest panoramas in Périgord. At 150 metres above the river, the site offers fantastic views over the Dordogne Valley. Early in the morning you'll be surprised by a sea of mist, and in the evening blown away by a magnificent sunset.
